Who will be the next Designer of the Year…?
What is the basis for a good design? Aesthetics and attention to detail, an innovative approach, the consideration of the needs of its users… are the three key factors evaluated by the jury in the projects submitted to 2019 Dezeen Awards. “We don’t believe that good design today can ignore issues such as social impact or sustainability” explains the organisers.
4.500 submissions sent by professionals from 88 different countries have set a very high standard for the 75 judges in charge of the longlist best projects selection. Ron Arad, Tom Dixon, Patricia Urquiola, Bethan Laura Wood … are just a few names that have participated in this first part of the process.
Architecture, Interior and Design are the main areas around which the 39 categories to be awarded are grouped. Sancal wanted to take advantage of this platform to be the “godfather” of the Designer of the year. The nominees are: Barber & Osgerby, Form Us With Love, Joe Doucet, Studio Drift and Stufish Entertainment Architects.
The Awards ceremony will take place on October 30th, where the winners will be announced.
