… or the way Sancal colours its world.
Love, humour, colour… are the ingredients of Sancal’s recipe for all the projects that the firm undertakes. A public manifesto of its joyful character, values and lifestyle.
Once Upon a Colour… is much more than the opening of its newly extended facilities. It is an authentic experience created by the firm for its guests from different latitudes in order for them to have a chance to know its inner charm and cheerful interior.
The meeting point at Habitat Valencia became a colourless prelude for what was to come. A yoga teacher instructed the fascinated listeners, inviting them to leave their minds blank before embarking on their trip to Yecla, while practicing different asanas.
Grouped in three teams (yellow, red and blue), clients, collaborators, press and designers, accompanied by Sancal´s guides, went through an artistic and inspirational tour, visiting the buildings where the different production processes are hosted.
The Red stop was the first one in which the passion of the meticulous seamstress received the guests in the cutting and sewing sections. They also discovered the impressive mural of Agostino Iacurci, an ode to craft, in addition to tasting Iberian ham and cheese cuts.
The second stop, Yellow, allowed the groups to discover the gluing and upholstery processes, which surprised them for their handmade nature. Between foams and structures, a tasting of textures and flavours delighted them. Even some guests cheered up to “blow up” the birthday candles of the commemorative mural of Sancal’s 40th anniversary, drawn by Ricardo Cavolo in 2014.
The Blue stop projection and performance subtly splashed their audience with a suggestive blue light and audio Be water my friend… In this part of the tour they were also struck by the colourful “40 faces, 40 years” mural by Zosen sprayed in one of its walls also in 2014.
During the walk, inspiring and enigmatic quotes could be read on the walls, by the typographer Marial_Soy. The last one, Love is in the air, welcomed them to the newly released showroom and became the motto of the night.
Printing a heart on a cloth in a serigraphy workshop was the last stop of the tour, a delightful souvenir of the visit. Then the fun, musical and multicoloured celebration began.
A group of colourful human mannequins, discreetly integrated among the furniture displayed in the showroom, came to life when playing the catchy song Love is in the air and they accompanied the attendees to the new terrace where succulent delicatessen and typical dishes were served.
Between giggles and lively talks, the most daring guests coloured their skin with ephemeral tattoos of Marial_Soy‘s letterings.
The loading dock, which the artist Seikon transformed into a street wall painting, became an improvised stage in which a live concert by the local musical band Parade opened the dance floor. A lively DJ continued with a selection of well-known songs – when it was time to leave many of the guests continued the party on coach trip home.
