2020 is coming to an end, probably the strangest year that most of us have ever experienced. Who would have thought that were going to live a pandemic when we asked Carmen Casado, alias holasoyka, to illustrate such an inspiring calendar? Undoubtedly, we have been paying close attention to it as days passed by.
This year has marked, worldwide, a before and after in our lives and, if we have learned anything positive from this situation, it is to appreciate small details and little pleasures. The lockdown at home has given us the opportunity to enjoy the company of our beloved ones with long conversations, film sessions from comfortable sofas or sitting around the table to enjoy homemade food. We have also learned the importance of personal well-being and the need to find moments for privacy, read a book comfortably seated in our armchair or do yoga on the living room rug.
And, of course, the importance of solidarity and responsibility that as a society we have acquired with each other. COVID-19 reminded us that we all live on the same planet and need to cooperate together in order to overcome our differences.
It’s time to say goodbye to the artist who has illustrated 2020 calendar with our heartfelt admiration for her work. Month by month, her avant-garde characters have accompanied our furniture during the year. Her work has opened the doors to a world of colours and basic shapes to reveal, maybe unintentionally, the sincerity of the simplest things.
We end 2020 with December’s protagonist, whose strange gesture seems to say “Who would have thought…”, accompanied by the Tonella poufs from the Swedish design studio Note.
